Description:
There is a typo in the /etc/default/passwd file, on line 9, there is a word "passwowrds", it should probably be "passwords".

It's even in a copy of that file on the Arch linux wiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SHA_password_hashes)!

Additional info:
Unfortunately I'm unable to determine the package to which this file belongs, let alone it's version. But I just installed the system, so it should be up to date (kernel version 3.0.3).

This file belongs to pam package:

[karol@black ~]$ pacman -Qo /etc/default/passwd
/etc/default/passwd is owned by pam 1.1.4-1

The affected file is etc/passwd:9 from pam_unix2-2.6.tar.bz2, I can't find relevant upstream info for that except the address kukuk@suse.de.

See the attached file for a patch file that can be applied to etc/passwd in the source tree to fix the bug.
