Details

package dhcp provides an empty dhcpd.leases file and this file overwrites any on the system when the package is upgraded.

good way to loose 2500 leases, oops! :)

I was thinking about this again today, this should probably be handled like wtmp etc in filesystem instead of adding to backup=()

good news is that even if it's blanked out, the server can recover for the most part without too much interaction.
