The proposed fix was accepted by upstream: http://git.gnome.org/browse/gdm/commit/?id=64e6b10f98fe7226a2f41807268dae3afa80236d
Please apply this patch, and:
- add gnome-settings-daemon as dependency, because it's a required component both for gdm-shell and gdm-fallback sessions
- add metacity as optional dependency, because it's a required component for gdm-fallback session

having a gnome-wm provider is not a good idea. pacman handles them alphabetically and everyone is going to have gnome-shell and it will fail when 3d is not available.

The best solution I think would be to add gnome-wm as dependency to gdm, and as provides to metacity and gnome-shell. In this case the users are forced to choice each one, when installing gdm.
