WiFi access point profile is usefull.

Currently I use slightly modified ethernet connection (without NO-CARRIER checking) and PRE_DOWN/POST_UP commands.

It would be good to get AP profile with ability to specify options for hostapd and dhcpd.

wpa_supplicant has a build option CONFIG_AP which will be used by the next major networkmanager release. This makes setting up an access point really easy. There are only two differences to a normal network-block: mode=2 enables AP mode and frequency must be specified. This is supported by most mac80211 drivers.

Currently it
>> can be used for open and WPA2-Personal networks (optionally, with WPS);

So using hostapd is better.
