Description:
When I update from ArchLinux stable to testing, the xorg-server will crash when exiting. Additional info: Steps to Targets (7): xf86-input-evdev-2.6.0-4 xf86-input-synaptics-1.5.0-1 xf86-video-intel-2.16.0-1 xorg-server-common-1.11.0-1 xorg-server-1.11.0-1 xorg-server-devel-1.11.0-1 xorg-xinit-1.3.1-1 reproduce: startx with fvwm exit fvwm the error is found in startx.err, probabily due to evdev? |
This task depends upon
startx.err
Noop. The crash persisted with 1.11.1-2. I installed fluxbox today to try if the crash happens with 1.11.1-2. No crash occured (I attached the file as a proof) with fluxbox. But a crash was still occured with fvwm2. I fear that there are changes in the xorg-server (or xorg-input-evdev?) protocol which makes older window manager crash when exiting. Though the problem is minor, I hope the problem could be resolved since I love fvwm2 and don't really like to see coredumps generated all the time I exit.
The update introduced this segfault at every exit. My window manager, xmonad, is not old and I love it! I don't understand why this version of the X server has been added to stable if it segfaults! The problem is, in a sense, minor, but I hope it will be fixed soon. It is very easily reproducible (at least on my machine, Thinkpad T410s). I use xf86-input-evdev and xf86-video-intel. Currently, I downgraded.
