Description:

Archlinux distributes its ruby without a dependency on libyaml. When libyaml is missing ruby falls back to the internal syck library instead of building the default psych backand (rubys libyaml wrapper).

My personal problem with this is the fact I need some of the psych features for my applications running under arch. Since psych is not build by default, I have to build and distribute the package for myself.

Users can easily choose their favorite YAML backand using RUBYOPTS="-rsyck -rpsych".

Just added libyaml as a dep in the PKGBUILD and im fine.

Ther might be reasons not to include libyaml in the archlinux ruby package. Im not an archlinux packager. Feel free to correct me.

Should libyaml be a make+opt dependence or a dependence?
