Detailsautofs 5 package has a wrong default configuration file bundled in a package with it.
Since version 5, autofs has a different config file syntax then version 4, but ArchLinux package still has a config in autofs 4 format. It prevents, for example, to configure browse mode or timeout properly. Additional comments about closing: "/etc/conf.d/autofs" is sourced in "/etc/rc.d/autofs" and not used by automount(8) itself. Create a configuration file manually, instead.

autofs.conf.default.in
It is a part of a package autofs.
The outdated file is /etc/conf.d/autofs. As you can see in the listing below.
[root@warzone ~]# pacman -Qo /etc/conf.d/autofs
/etc/conf.d/autofs is owned by autofs 5.0.6-2
[root@warzone ~]# pacman -Ql autofs | grep conf.d
autofs /etc/conf.d/
autofs /etc/conf.d/autofs
[root@warzone ~]#
