DetailsRationale:
In my office I use NetworkManager and ypbind, and I have been having some issues with a flaky network connection (causing ypbind sometimes to immediately exit when started). From the manpage, it looks like ypbind might be a bit more intelligent if it has NM support (i.e. it will do the right thing if the network disappears and reappears, as well as not expecting the network to be set up when ypbind is started). I have not tested if this would solve my problem, but I figured the NM support would be nice in either case. An auxiliary reason for wanting this is to optimize the boot time. Now I have a silly call to "nm-online" which slows down my boot in order to make sure ypbind is started only after the network is connected, with NM support in ypbind this would not be needed. There might be downsides to adding this that I'm not aware of, sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere. |

N.B. I don't use NIS anymore so I can hand ypbind-mt and yp-tools over to you if you'd like.
