image filenames in a folder full of files with jpg
extension.

Thanks for sending in the bug report. Unfortunately, I was hoping a recompile against some new libs would resolve this issue, but it hasn't. Until I sort it out, gqview might be a good alternative.
I have not forgotten this package. In fact, I have read mailing lists, asked on irc, gone through forums, and the best I can get at this time is that it is a configuration issue, and that "playing around with gconf-editor" might fix.
Also, a new version of gthumb has been released. I have compiled it as well and am still getting the same effect.
I will continue to try to resolve this issue... thanks for your patience.
This appears to be a problem with running gthumb outside of gnome. For all my research, I cannot find a solution. I will keep this bug open, as it still exists in the newest gthumb I have uploaded, version 2.1.9-1.
