Description:
`pacman -S thunar' should at least inform, that installing gvfs is optional but highly recommended. Most users that use desktop environments use the `Trash'...

There is no such message after `pacman -S thunar' although most packages list optional dependencies after installation.

Additional comments about closing:  After recent sync the problem doesn't persist. Possibly outdated mirror / obsoleted.

I experienced this approx a week ago with a fresh install. In fact I cannot check it now. `pacman -Qi thunar' list it correctly so I hope the problem doesn't exist anymore.
