Details

Description:
xdg-open fails to open html urls that start with "file:///"
(see steps to reproduce for example)
Also, while I use chromium as default, it still tries to open firefox, but this might be another issue.

Additional info:
xdg-utils 1.1.0rc1-3
gnome-desktop 3.0.2-1
firefox 6.0-1
chromium 13.0.782.215-1

Steps to reproduce:
1. touch /tmp/file.html
2. xdg-open file:///tmp/file.html
=> gvfs-open: file:///tmp/file.html: error launching application: Failed to execute child process "/usr/lib/firefox-5.0/firefox" (No such file or directory)

OTOH other mime types work ok (i.e. xdg-open file:///1.txt).
I suspect it might be some packaging issue...

Your default browser is set to an outdated version of firefox, so that's why it fails. Use xdg-mime to adjust file association to your default browser.

Hmm.

If i run:
xdg-mime query default text/html

the outputi is:
chromium.desktop

So I'm still not sure. I never did anything past clicking (Set As Default App) in various browsers :)
But if you sure that this isn't some packaging issue, please close this bug. I guess I'll need to move the discussion to forums then :)

Please check xdg-utils-1.1.0-0.20120520-any.pkg.tar.xz in testing and make sure you browser is set properly.
