Description:

ddate isn't build by default in util-linux 2.20. To enable it --enable-ddate must be used.

* Install util-linux 2.20 from testing
* $ ddate

I think the creators of ddate have had their fun, and the joke is past its use-by-date. The code is also buggy and ugly. Unless you can tell me that you are relying on ddate to administer your Arch-powered nuclear power plant, or something along those lines, I think I'll let ddate remain dead.

This really isn't a valid argument.

I could make the argument that 5% of Linux desktop users know what awk is and 2%
know how to use it.. If I took that at face value and said "I don't know what the
use case for awk is, it's been around forever... however since I think it's silly
I am going to prevent it from being built by default from now on" then I would have
quite a few upset users on my hands.\

By default we follow upstream, and upstream has disabled ddate by default. In other words, if you want me to consider enabling it you need to provide a usecase for which it is needed. What do you have in mind?

I would suggest that creating an AUR package for ddate would probably be the best course of action.

There is no use-case besides nostalgia and the weird desire for obscurity.
