[karol@black ~]$ pacman -Q fltk zynaddsubfx
fltk 1.1.9-3
zynaddsubfx 2.4.1-1

later combinations don't seem to work properly on my i686.

Comment by Karol Błażewicz (karol) - Monday, 29 August 2011, 16:13 GMT
With the current versions I don't get a GUI:

>> ERROR: Cannot make a jack client

did you start jack server?
Comment by Karol Błażewicz (karol) - Monday, 29 August 2011, 16:41 GMT
I didn't have do anything to see a GUI in the previous versions, but no I haven't started jack server (that's why I'm asking if I'm missing something).
Comment by Karol Błażewicz (karol) - Monday, 29 August 2011, 16:45 GMT
Running 'jackd -r -d alsa' before 'zynaddsubfx' fixes things - the GUI appears.

Solved for me.

It is strange, I moved package from aur without modifications. Do not know how to run it without jack.
Comment by Oto Magaldadze (ottoshmidt) - Monday, 29 August 2011, 17:43 GMT
so it's something wrong in here I guess.

btw zynaddsubfx-git from AUR works fine

Bug still exists with recent version of zynaddsubfx, jack and fltk

jack 0.121.2-2
zynaddsubfx 2.4.1-5
fltk 1.3.0-1
Comment by Matthias Jakobs (Matty265) - Sunday, 02 October 2011, 11:39 GMT
Worked for me with starting jack like this: "jackd -r -d alsa"
Comment by Oto Magaldadze (ottoshmidt) - Monday, 03 October 2011, 08:29 GMT
Matthias, have you tried the version from aur?
Comment by Matthias Jakobs (Matty265) - Monday, 03 October 2011, 11:50 GMT
I checked them out, but they didnt work. But with "jackd -r -d alsa" the regular versions work fine, i havent checkt the latest though. For me, this one is done
Comment by Oto Magaldadze (ottoshmidt) - Monday, 03 October 2011, 12:53 GMT
Andrea Scarpino and you, have you checked version from aur?
Comment by Sergej Pupykin (sergej) - Tuesday, 04 October 2011, 17:26 GMT
Here is output of

diff -wbBur zynaddsubfx/trunk/ zynaddsubfx.aur/

http://pastebin.com/SD7HFDwR

I don't know how zynaddsubfx from aur can start jack automatically. What is the difference?
Comment by Oto Magaldadze (ottoshmidt) - Tuesday, 04 October 2011, 19:12 GMT
when I filed this bug it wasn't opening gui with or without running jack. but then I suddenly fixed so that I couldn't have figured out the reason, furthermore others didn't confirm. So I concluded something in my system was wrong and closed the bug. Then Andrea reopened it, that's why I asked him.
