I think there should be an option to sort packages by the date the package was last updated. This would allow users to quickly see what new packages have been contributed, and would thus eliminate the necessity of the New and Requested Packages forum.

Reason for closing:  Duplicate
Additional comments about closing:  Duplicate of #2552, with the caveat that tracking and sorting by added/created date might be easier than a "what's new".

I think this is basically covered in bug #2552 (when you consider the commentary, too) but let me know if your idea is subtlely different than mine.

This is a feature I realized we would want on Day T-2! We'll definitely be adding this as soon as we can.

I'd say you could mark this as a duplicate of 2552. Basically, I figured if you could sort by date, that would be the easiest way to get a 'what's new' listing -- from the guy who's got to code it all's perspective.
