Description:
User A logs in via KDM. User B logs in through KDM. User A logs out. User B tries to shutdown or reboot the computer. KDE exits to a blinking cursor. User B manually switches to VT1 and shutdown/reboot continues.

Happened with KDE 4.6 and 4.7, and staring KDM via inittab or /etc/rc.conf makes no difference.

You should report this upstream.
Comment by John (forkboy) - Thursday, 18 August 2011, 10:28 GMT
It doesn't happen in any other distro's I've tried

Ok, this is relevant. But still I guess this could depends by our Xorg version or by your video card driver?
Which driver are you using? Are you using kdebase-workspace from kde-unstable?
Comment by John (forkboy) - Thursday, 18 August 2011, 10:32 GMT
Using the nvidia driver, everything from core/extra and everything is up to date. I can reproduce this in virtualbox also.
Comment by Ronald van Haren (pressh) - Thursday, 18 August 2011, 12:13 GMT
I can confirm that it works on my work machine (fedora 14). Didn't try to reproduce it in Arch yet.

I got the same problem. Using
extra/nvidia 285.05.09-3 and
extra/kdebase-workspace 4.7.3-3 (kde)

Status? Do you use systemd?
Comment by John (forkboy) - Sunday, 18 December 2011, 18:36 GMT
I can still reproduce this on a new install, on real hardware and in virtualbox. No systemd, everything from core/extra. Starting KDM via inittab or /etc/rc.conf makes no difference.

Done some more testing as this still affects me, turns out it happens with lightdm too. Also tried switching to systemd and it still happens, with lightdm and kdm.

Can you try with kdebase-workspace >= 4.9.2-4? That one uses pambase to login.

It works as it should now, thanks
