Description:
The tuner (USB Hauppauge WinTV HVR900) works OK if inserted after system restart. Unfortunately:
- suspending the notebook if the tuner is present results in system freeze when waking up (as it used to be, it's nothing new),
- disconnecting the tuner keeps the system running while causing a serious crash; the tuner is unuseable until the reboot (it changed during last max. 2 days)

Additional info:
* log file attached (the second case)

Probably linux s fault, which drivers are you using. If they are provided by linux , report upstream at bugzilla else at your driver manufacturer.

Just rolled back the kernel (to 2.6.39) and now it works fine. Something wrong with the 3.0 release; hasn't it been stabilized too quickly?

I'm using the the following (kernel) modules:
Module Size Used by
em28xx_alsa 6294 0
rc_hauppauge 2006 0
tuner_xc2028 19300 1
tuner 18669 1
tvp5150 15054 1
em28xx 93891 1 em28xx_alsa
ir_lirc_codec 4419 0
v4l2_common 6395 3 tuner,tvp5150,em28xx
lirc_dev 9695 1 ir_lirc_codec
videodev 78070 4 tuner,tvp5150,em28xx,v4l2_common
ir_sony_decoder 2227 0
ir_jvc_decoder 2321 0
media 10437 1 videodev
ir_rc6_decoder 2801 0
v4l2_compat_ioctl32 8364 1 videodev
videobuf_vmalloc 4359 1 em28xx
ir_rc5_decoder 2289 0
ir_nec_decoder 2673 0
videobuf_core 15684 2 em28xx,videobuf_vmalloc
rc_core 15232 9 rc_hauppauge,em28xx,ir_lirc_codec,ir_sony_decoder,ir_jvc_decoder,ir_rc6_decoder,ir_rc5_decoder,ir_nec_decoder
tveeprom 13145 1 em28xx

The em28xx is critical -- unloading it causes kernel panic.
