/etc/mythtv/mysql.txt should point to /.mythtv/mysql.txt - the current link to /usr/share/mythtv/mysql.txt is no longer checked by mythtv, and is therefore deprecated.

Do we need the symlink at all? Can you strace it to see if .mythtv is in the searchpath? We can't symlink to ~/.mythtv

myth searches first to ~/.mythtv, but the system wide wide (in case that no ~/.mythtv exists) is in /.mythtv/mysql.txt. No, that wasn't a typo. :)

The current symlink to /usr/share/mythtv/mysql.txt is no longer even checked by mythtv at all, so it is a useless symlink.

well I guess we'll just have no system-wide check I guess.

not a big deal, and it certainly doesn't bother me. mythtv creates /.mythtv on its own, and so a symlink wouldn't be creating extra clutter.

I think it would be worth putting a note about that in the doc file that ships with the package, as I don't think this has made it into the official mythtv docs yet. They code first and document... later.
