I placed an invalid hook in the mkinitcpio.conf HOOKS array
during the 'Configure System' step, causing mkinitcpio to
fail. However, there was no apparent indication of the
failure. The mkinitcpio 'window' did not appear (or
disappeared to quickly to be noticed), nor were there any
legible error messages (there was a flash of text on the
bottom line of the console, but it only remained for a
fraction of a second). In other words, I would have had no
idea that anything went wrong if I weren't familiar enough
with AIF to miss the mkinitcpio 'window'.
Furthermore, there was nothing in tty7 or the live logs (I didn't think to check the installed system logs), so the only solution I could come up with was to chroot into the install and run mkinitcpio there to see the output. So, I am suggesting that there be an inquiry into mkinitcpio error handling. |
