Description:

open-vm-tools will not start with fully-patched Arch. Log shows "vmsvc[599]: [ warning] [vmtoolsd] The vmsvc service needs to be run inside a virtual machine." Machine is running under VMWare Workstation 6.5.2.

Steps to reproduce:
pacman -Syu
[update everything]
pacman -S open-vm-tools
[let install]
/etc/rc.d/open-vm-tools start
[start fails -- log shows message above]

Please try 2011.07.19-1 from testing. If you do not want to update to linux-3.0, you may build open-vm-tools-modules from abs (testing/open-vm-tools should work on current without rebuilding, I just pushed them, should appear on your mirror soon)

There is a problem in the path of the modules:
open-vm-tools-modules-2011.07.19-1 -> modules are in /lib/modules/3.0.0-ARCH (note the extra .0)
whereas in linux-3.0.1-1, modules are in /lib/modules/3.0-ARCH

A rebuild via abs is enough to fix it :)
