DetailsHi
I want to export a common PS1 line for all users on the system. My preferred way would be using /etc/profile.d/ and creating a new script inside this directory. However, the global bash-config /etc/bash.bashrc is read AFTER everything inside /etc/profile.d/ by /etc/profile so the bash-config overwrites all PS1-PS4 lines. In recent versions it was possible to add a /etc/bash.bashrc.local file, but this has been removed now and I wonder how to set such global options now. I'd prefer not editing /etc/bash.bashrc to avoid conflicts with bash-updates. How about setting PS1 inside this file only when it is not set, yet? Regards David |
