Description:
Gnome3 (fallback mode) panel applets fail to load on startup occasionally (sporadic but common problem). I've seen this in the forums in the past, also in previously closed bug report for Gnome2 (22533) but none of the solutions work. I've also replicated the problem on four machines, as noted below.

The error message pops up asking if I want to delete it from configuration, some examples below, however it affects all applets, including the clock:
"The panel encountered a problem while loading "WnckletFactory::WindowMenuApplet".
"The panel encountered a problem while loading "WnckletFactory::WindowListApplet".

Additional info:
* gnome-panel 3.0.2-1
* gnome-applets 3.0.2-1

Steps to reproduce:
Install Gnome3, set to fallback mode, add some applets to a panel. Reload a couple of times (no need to reboot or anything, just restart X).

I've confirmed this bug on four different x86_64 bit installations of Arch Linux. All sync with regular repos, they do not sync with Testing or any other special repos.

gnome-applets are not supported in gnome 3.0.

as you see (you failed to specify the right version), we are using an unstable version 3.1.2 just to please our users.

gnome-applets are going to be added back officially in 3.2. until then, i suggest to start debugging better and report upstream.

The applets he's getting errors on are the ones bundled with gnome-panel, so they're supported. I've seen this a lot with GNOME2 in the past and haven't been able to debug or fix this. I think it's a timing issue with dbus-activation of the applet programs.

Not sure about that but I've noticed I've got the same issue when I shutdown the computer from the menus....Try to shutdown from the command line to see if the problem appears at the next startup. Somehow, it could be related to something that is not done properly during the session logout...

It seems to be solved since 3.4...
