Details

Description:
qgis and grass won't start. Starting from the console gives:
"error while loading shared libraries: libhdf5.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

Additional info:
hdf5 : from 1.8.6-1 to 1.8.7-1)
grass64 : 6.4.1-2
qgis : 1.7.0-2

Steps to reproduce:
just try to start qgis or grass64

gdal has been rebuilt. Does it fix the problem for you ?

Yeah that did the trick (gdal-1.8.0-6). Thx for the quick actions. Problem solved & back in business.
