what is segfaulting? gwenview? (works fine for me) pacman?
Comment by Mr Green (MrGreen) - Tuesday, 05 April 2005, 16:39 GMT
Not saying its gweview .... just that I cannot upgrade gwenview without locking system... the only other package that may be affected is imlib2..

Any data you require I'm happy to provide ;-)

please mail me if you need more .... you know where to find me

sorry my bad english - does this mean that pacman locks up the system or is it gwenview that makes the trouble?

imlib2 - try updating it manually (pacman -S imlib2 then pacman -S something else) ...

if it is gwenview, running "strace gwenview" may help

Well I cannot if remove old version seg fault ....

Pacman -S gwenview causes system to lock...

tried in Console got kernel error ... cannot grab it as system locks up..

What ever it is its nasty ...

Is there a safe way to remove gwenview from system

thinking going in /var/cache/pacman/lpkg ?????

Sorry but strace justs starts old version nothing more

If you get a kernel error, you have broken hardware, broken filesystem or a broken kernel. I think you have a broken filesystem that locks up everything. Had that a while ago on a server that didn't like some files to get read.

try to repair the filesystem with fsck ... hopefully it will repair it

is this the kernel26? what version?
Comment by Mr Green (MrGreen) - Wednesday, 06 April 2005, 07:24 GMT
Kernel stock 2.6.11.3-ARCH...

Did have problem with filesystem a few weeks ago .. then problems with KDE

reinstalling KDE helped maybe gwenview got left behind (1.2.0pre4-1)

Everything else seems fine ;-)

hi try memtest, now in extra repo to check your ram modules
had some serious problems with pacman segfaulting due to bad ram.
