Description:

Install archlinux, install dbus, avahi, samba, smbclient, xorg, xfce4, xfce4-goodies, gvfs, gvfs-smb, policykit. Configure them according to wiki. (and all the users to the needed groups in /etc/group)

Try to browse a smb/windows shares network with thunar, it will display machines, double click on a machine, then double click on a share and you will get a message "Open smb://fileserver/share and other files of the type "(null)" and refuse to view them. Even if the share is password protected, this message is shown. You can't browse files.

Seems that gvfs doesn't mount anything in .gvfs, but i can't think of other ways to work. Except to use nautilus, but is a bother with xfce4.

Regards

J.

I don't have any Samba share to test this. This could be a setup problem. I suggest to discuss this in our forum first to get more help. Right now I don't see a packaging bug.

I get the error, but if you change the URI directly it works fine. It also works fine with thunar 1.3.0.

Yes, installing thunar-devel from AUR solved this and other problems i'm getting with thunar 1.2.2

Thanks.

Same issue here on x64. Bug in Thunar 1.2.2 https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7774

I can also confirm this problem. When you try to open samba shares, you can see them, but if you try to browse one, if asks you what program to use to open it with. If you manually select thunar, it will still fail. The thunar-devel package will not build on my system, so I am unable to test that. My KDE-based install (with the exact same samba configuration files) does not have this problem.

We already know that there is a bug and further discussion should be done upstream (link to the bug is in the comment above yours).
