Description:
The vpnc-script in /etc/vpnc/ tries to use the command ifconfig but the vpnc package does not require the deprecated package net-tools - so ifconfig does not necessarily exist.
The solution should be to update the file vpnc-script to use the recommended ip instead. (There are only two calls of ifconfig in the script - it should be possible to replace them easily)

Additional info:
* package version(s)
Current version 0.5.3-3 (from 2010-12-13)

Steps to reproduce:
Start vpnc with only iproute2 (ip) but no net-tools (ifconfig) installed.
This task depends upon

Should the priority/severity be raised now that net-tools are deprecated (see http://www.archlinux.org/news/deprecation-of-net-tools/)?

net-tools has been added as a dependency. I'll work out a patch that satisfies both parties (net-tools and iproute2) and see about submitting it upstream.
