Detailsif you scour http://ck.kolivas.org/audio_hints.txt you'll se e that with kernel 2.6 X does no longer need to be niced to -1.
When i have it sat at -1 it creates audible annoying skips when playing music and opening new apps, scrolling, etc. immedeatly after i renice it to 0 the problem disappears. it would be nice if this would be fixed in 0.8, but if you could just tell me which config file this is automatically sat in at startup so i didn't have to set it manually everytime i open X it would be nice(r) also. this applies to alsa and oss. I sat it to high because an os that can't play sounds without skips doesn't excactly set an up-to-date reputation for itself. |
