Description:
mplayer2 support a lot of audio processing options through ladspa, the configure scripts enable -vf ladspa if ladspa is installed at configure time.
Also, ladspa package is really small (pacman says 0.12 MB), so i think the advantages is worth the footptint.

Steps to reproduce:
mplayer -af help does not show any ladspa filter support.
