Description:

Hi, i'm using a wireless card which is recognised ad BCM4321. I was using recently the b43 driver with no problems (yeah, i know, i should normally use the broadcom-wl one according to kernel.org but b43 works fine !) until i upgraded to 2.6.39.
Wiht 2.6.39, my wireless interface is mounted but i have entirely lost my wireless scan abilities.

When downgrading to 2.6.38, it works again.

Additional info:
* package version = kernel26, 2.6.39

Steps to reproduce:

Just upgrade to kernel 2.6.39 with the b43 driver, and a BCM4321 card on your laptop. The command "iwlist wlan0 scan" always gives "No scan results" as output.
This task depends upon

According to <http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43> your chip should only be supported starting with 2.6.39, so that it worked better before is a bit odd.

What is the pic id of your card? I'd suggest taking this problem to the b43 mailing list, as they will most probably be better able to help.

If you want to use broadcom-wl you need to rebuild it with .39, so do that otherwise the driver won't work....

do you run iwlist wlan0 scan as root or as normal user?

Hi everyone,

the PIC-ID of my card is : [14e4:4328]

I already tried the broadcom-wl driver, without success. All it does is freezing my desktop (kernel oops i think) when i'm loading the wl module. I rebuilt both broadcom-wl and b43-firmware AUR packages with 2.6.39.

I ran "iwlist wlan0 scan" as root and as normal user. However, it seems that it is unreliable depending on your desktop, network manager and other things. The fact is just that now, my scan abilities are completely down.

I will send a bug report ASAP at the b43 mailing list. It is likely a regression if it worked correctly with 2.6.38.

Regards,

A bug report was submitted some days ago to the b43 driver mailing-list. I'm currently waiting for an answer from the upstream.
