Details

Description:
When having X run and launching a terminal, information that should be displayed simply shows blank lines or doesn't refresh at all. The issue isn't systematic. Sometimes the terminal shows the information.

example:
when doing a simple 'ls', I sometimes get blank lines followed by a prompt.

I discovered that changing focuse windows makes the invisible lines appeare.

Additional info:
* using a laptop : Dell inspiron 1525 with a GM965 chipset
* uname -a : Linux 2.6.39-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Jun 7 05:49:02 UTC 2011 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
* used xterm and urxvt.

Steps to reproduce:
* simply having the driver installed
* use a tiling window manager (I've had the problem with awesome and wmfs)
* launch an application that needs to refresh often (ex : htop)

Solution found to bypass :
* installing the xf86-video-intel-git package from AUR fixed the issue

Reason for closing:  Fixed
Additional comments about closing:  Assuming fixed, as this is about 2.15.0 and the last line in the bugreport claims it's fixed in git.

Intel 82845G card works fine.

hmmm… actually I'm still getting the issue. that's odd. It seemed more reliable with that -git package

OK, I've changed terminal again and tried sakura. Things seems to work much better. After a couple ou hours and a few reboots I never had that problem repeated… sounds like it's more of a terminal issue.

This happens on my Intel GM965 using fluxbox in rxvt-unicode and xterm. However, it doesn't seem to happen in sakura (perhaps sakura is "forcing" a refresh?).

Anyway, these are the versions I am running:

$ xterm -version
XTerm(270)

$ urxvt -help
rxvt-unicode (urxvt) v9.12 - released: 2011-06-29
options: perl,xft,styles,combining,blink,iso14755,encodings=eu+vn+jp+jp-ext+kr+zh+zh-ext,fade,transparent,tint,pixbuf,XIM,frills,selectionscrolling,wheel,slipwheel,smart-resize,cursorBlink,pointerBlank,scrollbars=plain+rxvt+NeXT+xterm

$ fluxbox --version
Fluxbox 1.3.1 : (c) 2001-2011 Fluxbox Team

$ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) (rev 03)

$ sudo pacman -Q xf86-video-intel
xf86-video-intel 2.15.0-2

$ uname -a
Linux ireland 2.6.39-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Jun 27 22:01:13 CEST 2011 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2370 @ 1.73GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
