Iputils has a neat tftpd implementation for use with inetd but nothing is prepared to get use of it.

Here I provide a service description which can be added to the package. The directory /var/tftpboot is copied from tftp-hpa. It doesn't exist by default so perhaps we could create a /srv/tftp directory.

This file has to be mentioned in the backup array and optdepends should indicate that xinetd is needed for tftpd.

I do not use tftpd and xinetd.
Where should this file be installed ?

This should be installed under /etc/xinetd.d/.
Now that we support systemd, the corresponding files could also be added.

As an example sane includes all these files: https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/tree/trunk?h=packages/sane

As I do not use tftpd, could you please attach here the systemd files that work for you ?

Well, I don't have one now. I might try to create these and ask Tom or Dave if they are ok.

Forget the systemd stuff, it does not work. Systemd cannot handle UDP sockets the way tftpd needs. Adding the xinetd service is all we can do.
