Description:
wicd-gtk installs /etc/xdg/autostart/wicd-tray.desktop which starts the wicd tray application on login. Most of the time I do not use wicd, so I change the autorun file to just execute 'true'.
However this is overwritten every time wicd-gtk ist updated/reinstalled. Please add "backup=(etc/xdg/autostart/wicd-tray.desktop)" to your PKGBUILD.

Additional info:
Name : wicd-gtk
Version : 1.7.0-10

Steps to reproduce:
pacman -S wicd-gtk
sed -i '/Exec=/s/wicd-gtk/true/' etc/xdg/autostart/wicd-tray.desktop
pacman -S wicd-gtk
# log in to your desktop environment

From http://standards.freedesktop.org/autostart-spec/autostart-spec-latest.html:

"If an application autostarts by having a .desktop file installed in the system wide autostart directory, an individual user can disable the autotomatic start of this application by placing a .desktop file of the same name in its personal autostart directory which contains the key Hidden=true."

Have you tried the above?

You are right, there are better way to disable autostart. I used xfce4 settings manager -> "Session Manager" -> "Application Autostart" and unselected "Wicd Network Manager Tray".
Thanks a lot, please close the case. Sorry for the noise.
