[spika@Archmage /]$ opera
/usr/lib/opera/8.0-20050225.5/opera: error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

qt installs fine into /opt/qt/
opera installs fine into /usr/share/opera/
(defaults)

the libs are in /opt/qt/lib/
but opera doesn't search there

a handy quickfix is to put an symlink:

ln -s /opt/qt/lib/libqt-mt.so.3 /usr/lib/opera/8.0-20050225.5/libqt-mt.so.3
This task depends upon

dorphell, if this is a qt bug, please pass it on to Judd.

Did you install QT special for Opera? If so, try logging out first before starting opera or any QT application. QT adds things to your profile that get updated after the next login.

Since I tried to reproduce this on a box with KDE already present, I couldn't reproduce the bug.

QT and KDE already where installed longlong ago.. i just added opera via

pacman -S opera
directly after that i tried to run it

besides:
[spika@Archmage profile.d]$ printenv | grep QT
QT_XFT=true
QTDIR=/opt/qt
[spika@Archmage profile.d]$

but opera doesnt search in that directory

also another sidenote...
opera seems to be very unstable for me .. but i couldnt figure out why yet... he simply dies from time to time (hitting links on webpages.. bbs or flyspray .archlinux.org eg. .. but not always on the same links)
