I have the same problem and I have nvidia 275.09.07-1 installed.

aur/nvidia-beta 280.04-1 still have the problem.

As said at nvnews forum by AaronP: It should be fixed in the next 280.* release.

nvidia-beta is now at 280.11 which should fix the issue.

In my case, I confirm it's solved. In the forums they talk about pidgin issue, but I don't use pidgin.

i have had the same problem upgrading from gnome2.
after a format, magically the issue is solved

IMHO if isn't a nvidia driver related issue, can be a config file related issue
