Description:
The new init script will not initialize on interfaces during boot. (I tested it only i686, but would assume the behaviour is the same on x86-64)

Example:
if the config contains the following, it will only initialize the last interface in the list (eth1):

interface=eth0
address=
netmask=
gateway=

interface=eth1
address=
netmask=
gateway=

Additional info:
* package version(s)
initscripts 2011.06.3-1

* config and/or log files etc.
I would expect it initialize any number of interfaces this way. Comment, instructing how to see all interfaces on the box suggests that (besides the former initscripts allowed configuring several interfaces without use of netcfg).
# Use 'ip addr' or 'ls /sys/class/net/' to see all available interfaces.

Steps to reproduce:
Create more then 1 wired interfaces in rc.conf, make sure all interfaces down, and then run rc.d start network (or simply reboot).
This task depends upon

This package has been updated and the update news states that rc.conf will now only support one wired device. This is part of net-tools deprecation.

This ^ plus if you specified the settings multiple times, the last ones would be set:
...
KEYMAP="pl"
KEYMAP="en"
...

would set keymap to English.

ahh.. so it isn't an improvement. I see.
Sad, I liked the former way of doing it.
