Just installed gDesklets and used the shell to install the Sidebar desklets. But opening any of them results in the following:

Re-assigned to Jan, I see your username in the output, looks like you rebuilt it last.

I think I tried something like 4 desklets now:
- gnomebar
- bubblefishymon (I miss some kind of sensor)
- sideCandy RAM/SWAP
- SideCandy rhythmbox

none of them failed on me, except the fishymon thing that requires an additional sensor. Could you point me to a desklet that doesn't work?
Comment by Jan de Groot (JGC) - Tuesday, 29 March 2005, 22:51 GMT
Also, please notice that the current version of gdesklets is incompatible with older displays. The Sensors interface has been deprecated, so old displays won't work anymore.

Hi Jan.

The error above is when using SideStripes desklets. I just downloaded SideCandy rhythmbox 0.54 and they fail with a error familiar with the one I posted.

How do you install the desklets? Using the "install remote package" or "install package" feature in the gdesklets shell, or by hand extracting tarballs, etc?
Comment by Guðni Þ. Björgvinsson (gthb) - Thursday, 31 March 2005, 00:04 GMT
I used the install package feature in the gdesklets shell, what do you prefer?

[bug squashing day prelims]
This is upstream stuff, almost for sure.
Gdesklets has undergone major structural changes between pretty much every recent release, and they haven't bothered taking down desklets that haven't been brought up to date with these changes, so it is nothing unusual for them to fail out.
The install feature of the gdesklets shell should work for anything that is going to work.

I tried
-gnomebar
-bubblefishymon
-sideCandy
and many others

And all gave me the above error. Will this be fixed?
Mine broke after upgrade to gnome 2.10.

Allright that didn't give much information. Not a single desklet has worked after I upgraded to Gnome 2.10.

I do not understand the error message but I am wondering about "/home/jan/cvs/extra/gnome" - Why is this path pointing to a "/home/jan/" directory on MY computer?? Maybe this is why it works on Jans comp and not on others?? I am quite a newbie, so feel free to correct me. I just like my desklets and want them back.
