Description:

Previously, the libreoffice's icons had leftover names from openoffice, the calc icon was ooo-calc.png. With libreoffice-3.4.0-1 it's now calc.png. That conflicts with gnome-icon-theme-3.0.0-1 which ships calc.png as a symlink to accessories-calculator.png. As a result, libreoffice now has the gnome-calculator icon in gnome-shell.

Workaround is either specifying an absolute path in the corresponding libreoffice-calc.desktop files or removing/renaming gnomes calc symlinks (plus removing the icon-theme.cache).

Is this a packaging specific problem or should it be resolved upstream?

Additional info:

report this upstream to the gnome-devs. for now it should be safe to force the installation.

force the installation? there isn't any issue with installing them on the same time. It only clashes the name and it might pick the wrong icon for office.

in my opinion, for now, we should add full path to office.

i support the idea of submitting this to gnome devs at least to let them know this problem. Please paste the link here to follow it

IMHO libreoffice should not use such generic names instead.
