Details

After installing xfdesktop on a fresh Arch installation:

[austin@austin-desktop ~]$ xfdesktop
xfdesktop: error while loading shared libraries: libgarcon-1.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory


That is fixed after installing garcon

i guess you didn't install xfce completely.

xfce4-panel->garcon

What if you install xfdesktop standalone though? xfce4-panel is only an optdepends for xfdesktop.

Yeah, I didn't want all of xfce (I use openbox and lxpanel), so I just installed xfdesktop, which should have garcon as its own dependency.

i noticed that it has xfce4-panel as makedepends and that's why it links to garcon
