Description:
The 'networkmanager' package has version 0.8.99-1, even though the 0.9 version has been packaged ( or it has been packaged from the git repo ). This makes kde-workspace compilation fail ( master branch ), and since 4.7 beta1 should be out any time now, even that will not compile.

Downgrading the 0.8.3 fixes this.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
* config and/or log files etc.

Steps to reproduce:
Just try compiling kde-workspace/solid/networkmanager-0.7

you should report to kde guys to add support for networkmanager 0.9.

there is nothing we can do here since gnome 3 needs networkmanager 0.9

I'm curious, what are you going to do when KDE 4.7 releases? Not package it?

This is a communiction issue between KDE an Gnome devs. Gnome 3 depends on an unreleased nm which is not supported by the stable KDE version yet. Of course people are working on it: http://lamarque-lvs.blogspot.com/2011/05/plasma-nm-nm-09.html For now nm cannot be used with KDE.

The NM09 solid backend is ready here: http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=networkmanagement.git&a=tree&h=bbb1cc13eeda1e60b803608dd262d7a31eea0e39&hb=c4b66836d74f1aef39a82152418b7a7828316fb6&f=solidcontrolfuture
We cannot use it with KDE 4.6, but the new backend will be merged in KDE 4.7.
