Arch developers keep adding weird dependencies to the packages.

First it was Xfree as a dependency to samba, then openldap to samba too (not even openldap-client, but server too), with the 1.2 release of amarok now you require to install a full blown database (mysql) while it also uses sqllite.

Please, guys, keep dependencies sane. Please remove mysql from amarok's dependencies. Arch is really fast, and adding unneeded dependencies wastes hard disk space, and linking to non-standard features (like needing openldap with samba) makes the code bigger.

Thanks

[damir@Asteraceae ~]$ ldd /opt/kde/bin/amarokapp | grep sql
libmysqlclient.so.14 => /usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.14 (0xb6424000)

amarok is built with mysql support, so that it can handle large collections of music

Yep, I wasn't very fond either when Damir recompiled amarok with mysql support. I do have quite a big collection of music and I don't see any speed issues with it while using sqlite. If anyone really wants to use amarok with mysql, that's what srcpac was created for, wasn't it? :-) More or less, I opt for removing mysql dependency, as it's a redundant overkill, imho. Unfortunately, with current non-modular structure of all this software out there we can't satisfy everyone's needs :-(

amarok-mysqlfree exist in extra

when mysql-support becomes modular, support will be available in amarok-mysql
