Details

Description: The output (formatting) from /sbin/rc.d is inconsistent with the standard output users expect to see from manually doing /etc/rc.d/daemon action. For example, the bolded font and colors defined in /etc/rc.d/functions aren't applied when using /sbin/rc.d

Additional info:
* package version(s) - 2011.05.2-1

Example:

# rc.d restart alsa
:: Saving ALSA Levels [DONE]
:: Restoring ALSA Levels [DONE]

The 2nd and 3rd lines are in plain text.

# /etc/rc.d/alsa restart
:: Saving ALSA Levels [DONE]
:: Restoring ALSA Levels [DONE]

Here the 2nd and 3rd lines are bolded and colored (cyan and white).

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the report.

I have still some pending patches from seblu (who is the guy in charge of the new rc.d script) dealing with these kind of things. However, we did not manage to finish reviewing them before the latest release. I.e., this problem might already be solved in git.

In case it is not, I added seblu to this task so he can have a look at it.
