Details

Description:
The Gnome 3 Network Manager (System Settings > Network) disables the Wired Options button when there is no IP assigned by a DHCP server.

Version: gnome-control-center 3.0.1.1-2

Steps to reproduce:
Take two computers
Plug crossover cable between the two
Attempt to set network options via Network Manager - but can't.

Gnome 3 is obviously hiring Microsoft chimps.

Workaround:
Terminal > nm-connection-editor
Select "Wired Connection 1", and "Edit". Set to the appropriate values. (Eg Shared to other computers or enter your static IP).
Exit from nm-connection-editor, plug cable in. Use the applet, and turn "Wired Connection" to "On".

Looks like the gnome-control-center was looking for a connection to become "complete" before it allows you to edit its options. Now if there isnt anything giving out an IP, its gonna sit there and wait forever.
