DetailsDescription:
After updating to 2.6.38.5-1, at least one of my drives can not be mounted. When looking at /var/log/kernel.log, I have the following May 4 20:55:40 tao kernel: [ 33.769009] BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0000000000000018 May 4 20:55:40 tao kernel: [ 33.769013] IP: [<ffffffffa00d5977>] ata_eh_recover+0x987/0x14d0 [libata] Additional info: * Happens with: kernel26-2.6.38.5-1-x86_64 * Attached * dmesg output * lspci output * hdparm -v output for all my drives * df -h output Steps to reproduce: Update to kernel26-2.6.38.5-1-x86_64 |
This task depends upon
kernel.log
In previous hdparm-output I put /dev/sdc twice and missed /dev/sdd
Attached is a fixed version.
http://paste.kde.org/60109/
i have a Intel i7-920 + Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 mobo with 10 HDDS connected like this (1x500Gb + 1x160Gb + 4+1Tb + 1x1.5Tb + 3x2Tb) (all WD caviar GP) + bluray unit connected with IDE-sata adapter, all in AHCI mode
6 hdds connected on IHC-10 controller and rest (4) on JMicron controller.
the 6 HDs connected in IHC-10 mounting and working good.
but the rest of disks fail to mount (from terminal and KDE, both) (see pastebin).
when restarting the PC the kernel hangs with the message "Synchronizing /dev/sdj" and don't finished (need press the power button or restart)
this occur with kernel 2.6.38.5-1 (Testing before and Core now). whit kernel 2.6.38.4 works perfect without problems
don't have more logs for i needing working in the pc. sorry
greetings
Revert, test and report to upstream if fixes the issue. Thanks.
Adaptec 3805 + nvidia 9600 seem to have caused this issue for me :<
Can we please patch this? It seems that a couple of users may be affect for this.
Patch http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.ide/49506 seems to solve the problem here.
