DetailsEvdev support in XOrg allows for better communication with the kernel and some common USB mice. It also allows for mice with more than 7 buttons to work properly in XOrg. I'll write a tutorial on how to make all of this work if there is enough demand...
I have already built the package with the patches and it works wonderfully.
Glad this is actually being considered.
