Details

When attempting to install KDE 3.4 after uninstalling KDE 3.3.2, pacman reports that it can't do this when it sees an existing file in the filesystem. The file is

/opt/kde/share/services/pnm.protocol

When I rename that file and try again, the install goes through.

hi
sorry for saying that but if you had run pacman -Qo file then you would know where it comes from, for me i cannot guess because it's provided by kdelibs, an other package also provides it, there it should be removed.
some kdeapp that you installed extra, would be nice if you could have a look at your installed kdeapps.
thanks

I know I had to uninstall a few kde apps to allow the upgrade to KDE 3.4. Two of them were kaffeine and kmplayer. I don't remember if there were others.

Next time I get an error like this, I'll use 'pacman -Qo <file>' to find where it comes from.
