At least since the latest pacman update to version 3.5.2 the --nodeps/-d parameter doesn't work anymore. I tried to temporarily uninstall lirc-utils and got this message: # pacman -Rsd lirc-utils checking dependencies... error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies) :: mplayer: requires lirc-utils :: xawtv: requires lirc-utils :: xine-ui: requires lirc-utils Instead pacman should ignore these dependencies or shouldn't do these dependency checks at all and uninstall lirc-utils. |

Skips dependency version checks. Package names are still checked. Normally, pacman will always check a
package’s dependency fields to ensure that all dependencies are installed and there are no package
conflicts in the system. *Specify this option twice to skip all dependency checks.*

Have you tried 'pacman -Rsdd foo'?
