Description:
Using the Netinstall I ended up using outdated mirrors such as
http://ftp.port80.se/archlinux/$repo/os/i686
Which is not even on the list at https://www.archlinux.de/?page=MirrorStatus

Out of the 4 sedish mirrors only one is on that list:
ftp.ds.hj.se/pub/os/linux/archlinux/

The following 3 from /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist is not even there and according to the version they supply they are outdated.

#Server = http://ftp.df.lth.se/pub/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch
#Server = http://ftp.gigabit.nu/$repo/os/$arch
#Server = http://ftp.port80.se/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch

I suggest removal of the above 3 from the mirrorlist and perhaps a full comparison of mirrorlist to https://www.archlinux.de/?page=MirrorStatus

What do you mean outdated?
For example http://ftp.df.lth.se/pub/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch synced on april 19th (thats yesterday) according to the db files.
The http://ftp.port80.se/archlinux/$repo/os/i686 repo is not on current mirrorlist. Dont know about the one in the iso. And neither is the gigabit one.

the installer doesn't fetch new mirrorlist ( FS#22510 ) and if you used an old iso it means that it has old mirrorlist.

lth.se was not found on the Mirror-Status page thus my assumption of it being outdated.

I used the Netinstall from https://www.archlinux.org/download/ using the bittorrent download.
Then I used port80.se for syncing and downloading which apparently should not be there anymore.

I moved from ubuntu 2010.10 and got really confused when all the programs that I used to use in Ubuntu now(on archlinux) was at _lower_ versions.

That image you downloaded is almost a year old, so you need to get an up to date mirrorlist from http://www.archlinux.org/mirrorlist/
