As a distributor, you are in a better position to ask for a menu editor. Right now, none of the applications:/// or preferenes:/// URIs work with nautilus anymore. I am filled up with a gazillion KDE menu items and i can't do anything about it. It surely degrades the whole experience for me.

pacman -S menu-editor

Added it because at least it allows you to get rid of unwanted items. Currently it can't do more than that.

Also, preferences:/// is replaced by preferences in the Desktop menu.
