Use pkgfile from pkgtools package:

[karol@black ~]$ pkgfile adduser
core/shadow

This is on the roadmap for 4.1. No idea yet if it'll be a tool included with the pacman package or added as part of pacman itself.

I haven't found any roadmap that mentions such tool. Almost two years have passed, maybe pkgfile should be considered good enough?

pkgfile was the aforementioned tool. Unclear if it'll be merged into pacman proper given what it does with mangling the downloaded files DBs.
