I see the pointer and I can't move it. That's all. Downgrade to 5.05-2 fixed it.

Any chance that you want to upgrade again and confirm the same issue occurs? Its not that I don't believe you... I just don't! :P

I'm having the same issue, but not what sure which package you are referring to - pls clarify. [Edit: sorry, didn't realise 'file' was a proper noun! thanks for confirming, Allan. <blushes>]
For info, I am on x86_64. I lose mouse control each time I login or logout. Mouse can be recovered by unplugging then plugging back in to usb port.
