I have same problem here.
Comment by Andrea Scarpino (BaSh) - Wednesday, 13 April 2011, 23:19 GMT
maybe we should remove the nvidia-96xx package too?

I have Geforce 4 MX 440SE and i can't found a driver.

Only vesa driver work :(

Comment by Alexandre Bolelli Soares (Semeion) - Thursday, 14 April 2011, 04:32 GMT
I found (and solve) the problem.

The problem is that xorg 1.10 is incompatible with nvidia-96xx (using GF4 MX440SE).

xorg 1.10 is incompatible with the xf86-video-nouveau too (using GF4 MX440SE).

I solved the problem by removing xorg 1.10 and installing xorg 1.9.4.901-1 from (http://arm.konnichi.com/2011/04/11/extra/os/i686/)

Now everything is working perfect here.

Don't remove nvidia-96xx from repository because it was very useful.

Thanks!

OK, I have removed that package for now too. And not, I don't think it's useful as it is not compatible with the other packages we provide. There is nothing we can do about this. If nouveau does not work with the recent xorg-server you might open a bug report for that. But make sure to have your system completely updated.
Comment by kuakua amen (kuakuaamen) - Thursday, 14 April 2011, 06:49 GMT
A warn to the user would benn better I think, this package is still useful, you mask xorg and input-evdev then you continue to use this package which is compiled against the kernel.

I've seen that nvidia-173 has been removed too. Is it the same problem? Nouveau works with xorg10?
Comment by Greg (dolby) - Friday, 15 April 2011, 03:02 GMT
Yes, no legacy nvidia driver works with xorg. Nouveau does.
Comment by dusan chae (palmfron) - Wednesday, 20 April 2011, 04:39 GMT
legacy driver 173xx is out! Works with xorg 1.10. However still waiting on 96xx.
